Progress Post, Headroom Clearance of Balconies

While working on the balconies, I noticed a problem with headroom clearance of the balconies (lower levels).
This is a finished view with curved balconies and steel ropes supporting the balconies  .
Although the curve was part of design it also solved the headroom clearance problem. Rectangular White boxes shows that the curve of the balconies in the bottom are not touching the balconies above.

Progress Post, Stuctural Ribs & Balconies

After talking to Professor Lia and Jill today, I finally solved the design problem (I think).
While continuously working and trying to find the right use of “Ribs” and optimum use of the balconies. I have designed only two balconies in front of the facade which will be suspended from the ribs. There are only two balconies in the middle, because side rooms have their balconies in between the ribs on the both sides.

Balconies are located in the middle only, therefore I have used the rest of the area to act like sunscreen. I am using concrete with triangular cutout to allow some natural like to penetrate through. It will reduce the cooling loads on the building too.

After adding steel rope, I will start working on the  Landscape and redo the floor plans.

Progress Post, Stuctural Design

Over the Spring Beak, I have been working on the Structural Ribs design because it is a very important part of my project. I want the Red Hook to be seen from other cities across from Red Hook. Therefore, After looking at some of the precedents and Calatrava's work, I started sketching to come up with a design of the Structural Ribs. I want my Structural Ribs to be attractive and functional. This is the design I chose because it is more practical and it works with my design.

This is the second sketch and study model which is my favorite too, but I don't want to use it doesn't work with the Balcones of my buildings.
This is the first sketch and study model of the Structural Ribs.
